HISTORY OF SGM

STEWART GIRL MINISTRIES was spiritually birthed by God, in the early 2000’s. He called His daughter, Bernice, to be the earthen vessel through which His ministry would be shared with the world. Dr. Belt’s initial response to God involved her doubt that she was able to carry out such a task. She did not accept the assignment right away. One late night, God definitively informed His daughter that all she needed to do would be to ‘say yes’, and He would take care of everything else. Dr. Belt said yes, and the delightful, exciting, rewarding work began, with God guiding, instructing, anointing, and providing every step of the way.

Dr. Belt initially considered three catchy names for this ministry. No matter how much she meditated over them, neither ever peacefully made it’s way to fruition. On another late night, God informed His daughter that He did not give her permission to select the name. He informed His daughter to name the Ministry, HIS ministry, STEWART GIRL MINISTRIES, to honor her parents who never taught her, and her six sisters, anything wrong. Additionally, God reiterated, that because she was raised IN the church to BE the church, Woodlawn Elizabeth Missionary Baptist Church, in Woodlawn, Tennessee, from the womb, that He wanted the influence of all she learned to translate into the work of the ministry.Following much prayer, fasting, planning, and preparing,
