Elder Gwen Duvall had her humble beginnings in a small town in Arkansas “in a place called Hope”. She attended Grambling College, now Grambling State University in Grambling, LA and matriculated in the field of Pre-Professional Social Work. She was blessed to do her internship as a social worker at Brookdale Hospital Center in Brooklyn, New York. After receiving her Bachelors of Arts Degree from Grambling, she went to work at the Cuyahoga County Welfare Department in Cleveland, Ohio. She later took a job at the Community Action Agency of Caddo and Bossier Parish Shreveport, LA and worked as a case worker for over five years. She then moved to Clarksville, TN with her husband and family. She took a job with Legal Aid Society of Middle TN and the Cumberlands, and worked as a Paralegal, Community Educator and Certified Housing Counselor for over 31 years.
She is a former advisory council member of Tennessee Association of Legal Services She is Secretary of the Greenhill Human Development Corporation, and a former member of the Board of Directors of the Women of Purpose Ministry Institute.. She was formerly an adjunct instructor at Brown Mackie College, Hopkinsville, KY.
She was licensed as a minister of the Gospel by the late Pastor Raliegh A. Jones in 2007. She was ordained as an Elder under the tutelage of Pastor Angela R. Jones in 2009. In 2016 she received training and subsequently, credentials/certification as an Elder from the College of Ordained Elders of the Full Gospel Baptist Fellowship International .
She founded the Living Well Ministries, a spiritual and financial wellness ministry aimed at making God’s children better stewards over what God has blessed us with. She has held financial wellness seminars in various counties in TN, KY and Arkansas. She has always shown an affinity and a passion to strengthen, comfort and give assistance to the less fortunate and the downtrodden
She has been an administrative assistant at the Greenhill Church and Christian Outreach Ministries since 1986. She presently holds the position as Church Administrator at Greenhill.
Her life and ministry is guided by the principles found in Luke 4:18 “The Spirit of the Lord has been given to me, for he has anointed me. He has sent me to bring the good news to the poor, to proclaim liberty to captives and to the blind new sight, to set the downtrodden free…” She is a widow and has two children, Kifini and DeShane; two grandchildren, Jasmyne and Arianna.
